Luis and Leeza come to visit

Luis and Leeza, our dear friends from back home came to spend a week with us in London. It is always wonderful to get visits from old friends, and thankfully, London is a major crossroad of people coming from the US to Europe.

They arrived the Friday after my mother left to go home, and were very tired, however, they'd wanted to go visit the Cottswolds that Saturday, so I reserved the Streetcar around the corner, and away we went.

Pepper and Bentley love going on road trips. We put their road trip bandanas on them, packed their travel bag, and as soon as I opened the trunk, they hopped right in.

Our first stop was Oxford. We drove out to this beautiful University town, and wandered around the streets admiring the fantasy architecture.

It really is an amazing town, and I'd like to go back and spend a weekend.

It was a graduation weekend, and though it was early in the day, people were wandering around in their black robes and hoods.

From Oxford, we drove up to a small town that was absolutely charming, Burton on the Water. It is a small medieval town built around a little creek that runs down the middle of it.

Tony really, really liked this village, and agreed that he would be willing to come back here for an overnight. It reminded me a little of where Tony grew up, especially with the running creek.

We had lunch at a little outdoor cafe. The weather was absolutely lovely. The food was just okay, but sitting outside in this quaint village was a great way to spend some time.

From Burton on the Water, we drove through these beautiful country roads to another small village called Chipping Campden.

The main treasure here is the original medieval market, which has been lovingly preserved by the townsfolk. It is here that farmers for centuries brought and sold their goods.

This area is famous for its wool products, and it is likely that my English ancestors on the Wooldridge (meaning wool cleaners) side came from this area.

It was a grand day out - a lot of driving, but thankfully, we made the long journey out and back safely.
