American Shopping

After much consideration, actually not that much, Shopping is a way BETTER experience in the US than in the UK. The stores are bigger, less crowded, and have greater selection. And I'm not merely talking about Walmart, of which I'm not a big fan.

Despite it's ongoing financial contributions to homophobic organizations, I love Target. And Lafayette has a SUPER TARGET, which basically means you can buy anything you might ever need for any aspect of your life!

We bought a lot of supplies to hold us when we would get back to London as there are certain things that are either hard to find there, or are just plain more expensive. America is the land of affordable shopping.

And the stores are beautiful. Wide aisles. Tons and Tons of STUFF! And dozens and dozens of check out registers. You just can't help but want to spend money.

With the UK raising the already high VAT (value added tax - like the US sales tax), it is no wonder that more and more people in the UK will travel abroad to do shopping.

A good example of this was that Tony's camera wasn't working well, and we knew we would be back in the states, so we planned to buy him a new one when we got there. We sifted through all the sales, and found the one he liked at BEST BUY.

It is so nice to visit a store and see piles and piles of stuff at great prices just ready to buy.

We went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to buy the wedding gifts for Tony's nephew and his wife, and stuff was piled all the way to the ceiling. You take this for granted in the states.

We stopped at all our favorite stores from Pier 1 imports to Petco. Tony found s couch that he really wanted.

Couldn't forget our little monsters, Bentley and Pepper, back in the London. We picked them up the Dental Ropes and Treat Sausages they love. Plus a few gifts from Santa Paws. . .

We drove past Home Depot to bow to the home improvement Gods, but didn't go in. I was impressed with all the BBQs and Motorized Lawn Mowers - items you don't see much of in the UK.

I do miss my BBQ back home in Los Angeles.

One thing that I can definitely say is that the size of everything in the US, especially in the south where they have so much space, is enormous. Size may not be everything, but it is impressive.
